Great Pontoon Water
A pontoon, even a well-optioned Premier tritoon, is a protected-water and calm-day boat. It's outstanding on Estero Bay, San Carlos Bay, Pine Island Sound, Matlacha Pass, and the Caloosahatchee. It's a great way to reach Cayo Costa, Keewaydin Island, or Lovers Key on a calm morning, and plenty of owners run comfortably across open bay water to Sanibel or toward Marco Island when conditions are good.
What It's Not Built For
What a pontoon is not built for is the open Gulf of America in rough conditions. The flat, wide hull design that makes a pontoon so stable and comfortable in calm water is the same design that makes it a poor match for real offshore chop, following seas, or afternoon thunderstorm conditions that build quickly in SWFL summers.
